where is the tandem bicycle you imagined

the double kayak, the larger than life size tent

 

driving cross country is not an option, nor

should it ever have been       pipe dreams

 

fill comfort zones with incense smoke

after a year it becomes stuffy, unbreathable

 

with cards laid out on the kitchen table

two of cups, the tower, the hermit, the

 

nine of coins, phrased to clear the air

and allow for the use of twin beds

 

in antiseptic motel rooms      along the way

I drop the road map on the high way

Clumsy Sharks

 

that cryptic lyric was light years away

and simultaneously lost in our deep pockets

 

we swam in two different directions

planets connected and held apart

 

with light magnetism and serious gravity

a swimsuit lost through reverse osmosis

it permeates the thinnest membrane

in the emotional laboratory

The Green “Hello” From a Distant Galaxy

 

it was the same galaxy you inhabited

your postcards made it as far as

Tabby’s Star, the Horsehead Nebula

 

but I zigzagged like a stray asteroid

and ended up on different planets

visible with a telescope pointed

 

in the correct direction
