my broken toe and yesterday’s

tyrannosaurus, pachycephalosaur, triceratops

erectus, habilis, Australopithecus

sapiens, sapient

sapped of strength

 

sliver of thin membrane

pierced, notated, calipered, clamped

mind held in a liquid embrace
