Night Shift

Three burned-out light bulbs,

two empty candlesticks,

and an odd-leg caliper:

useful tools for returning

these shadows and grimy stains,

back to the center, back 

where they long to be.

If you wrap standard 

brown twine 

around a standard-

shaped light bulb, 

and then add a little stick 

at the tippy top, 

it looks just like 

a rustic pear.
