Throwing One’s Voice into One’s Work:  The Distant Effect


A confetti of words 

falls into my story 

about “the making of form” 

during the Zoom critique.


One colorful word 

after another.

More words 

applied as paste.


A plausible story, 

a believable story,

perhaps, but the true story 

only begins to come to life 


when the tide recedes and 

washes all the words back 

through their silent forms,

back through the physical 


process of making, back to 

the material itself.
