Throwing One’s Voice into One’s Work: The Distant Effect
A confetti of words
falls into my story
about “the making of form”
during the Zoom critique.
One colorful word
after another.
More words
applied as paste.
A plausible story,
a believable story,
perhaps, but the true story
only begins to come to life
when the tide recedes and
washes all the words back
through their silent forms,
back through the physical
process of making, back to
the material itself.
